Este anuncio publicitario lo dice todo con baby alpaca. Además de este anuncio, muchos otros que vi al recorrer la Plaza de Armas en el centro de Cuzco, también daban a saber a la gente que sus prendas fueron hechas de este material. ¿Pero por qué es tan necesario hacerle saber a la gente que la ropa que venden es hecha con este material?

La alpaca originaria habita en la zona altoandina de Perú. Las características de su lana la convierten en una de las más apreciadas del mercado textil mundial, especialmente entre los nativos de Cuzco y los turistas del todo el mundo que vienen a visitar la ciudad.

La baby alpaca se obtiene del primer esquilado del animal en su vida y se dice que presenta mayor calidad, ya que se trata de un pelo más suave que el de los esquilados que van a ocurrir en el futuro. La palabra "baby" no hace referencia a la edad del animal, pues todos ellos necesitan alcanzar la edad adulta (3 años) antes de estar listos para su primer esquilado. 

Esa es la razón por la cual la mayoría de las tiendas en Cuzco hacen saber en sus anuncios publicitarios que su ropa está hecha con baby alpaca. Esto definitivamente atrae a más consumidores que están interesados específicamente en comprar sus productos por el valor del material con los cuales están hechos.

Besides this ad, I saw many others as I walked around the Plaza de Armas in the center of Cuzco, that also let people know that their clothing items were made from this material. Why is there a need to let people know that the items that they sell are made with this material?

The original alpaca inhabits in the high Andean zone of Peru. The characteristics of its wool makes it one of the most appreciated in the textile world, especially between the natives of Cusco and the tourists that come from all over the world to visit the city. 

The baby alpaca is obtained from the first shear of the animal and its is said that it is of better quality, because it is a much softer hair than the future shears. The word "baby" does not make reference to the age of the animal, because they all need to reach an adult age (3 years) before they're ready for their first shear. 

This is the reason why the majority of the stores in Cusco let people know in their advertisements that the clothes are made with baby alpaca. This definitely attracts more customers that are specifically interested in purchasing these products because of the value of the material from which they are made.
